Training Content Delivered

  • Organic pest control methods – preparation & application βœ…
  • Natural pest repellents / biopesticides βœ…
  • Mulching (organic & nylon mulch) βœ…

  • Other: Jaavarmaruth organic biofertilizer
  • Soil fertility & composting (not covered)

Adoption & Practice

5 women started using organic pest control; 15 participants applied soil improvement techniques.

Changes Observed

  • Within 1–2 months: Crops looked healthier, greener; pest incidence reduced after consistent biopesticide use.
  • After 3–6 months: Yields improved; soil condition enhanced; participants appreciated harvesting without chemical inputs.
  • About 6 women reported improved outcomes; one trainee trained 2 additional farmers.

Trainee Feedback & Learning Gaps

  • Most valued: pest management tips, home remedies, and detailed biopesticide preparation steps using local materials.
  • Trainees especially appreciated the manual’s chapter on managing specific pests and stored produce protection.
  • Identified gap: need for stronger postharvest loss reduction strategies, particularly regarding bio-fertilizers.
  • No part was difficult to understand; the manual was simple and self-explanatory.

Challenges & Recommendations

  • Biopesticides alone sometimes insufficient for high infestations.
  • Lack of fast and effective disease control solutions raised concerns.
  • Recommendation: emphasize soil health, use disease-free seeds, and follow good farming practices.
  • Develop region-specific application rates (North vs. South climatic conditions).
